How Scrollie handles your information.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, what we store, what stays on-device, and how we handle sign-in, sync, purchases, and support requests.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Scrollie website, mobile application, onboarding flow, authentication flow, sync features, subscriptions, and related services we operate.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect information in the following categories:
- account and authentication information, such as a Firebase user ID, sign-in provider, and basic profile details returned by a sign-in provider if you choose to sign in,
- learning and profile information, such as your learner name, selected language or course, goals, blocked-app selections, and related preferences,
- progress information, such as completed lessons, lesson performance, streaks, XP, intervention counts, and spaced repetition or review progress,
- entitlement and subscription summary information, such as your active plan role, purchase type, store product identifier, platform, entitlement status, and related timing metadata,
- support and contact information, such as emails or messages you send us,
- limited technical information required to operate the app, such as app version, device context, crash information, and service diagnostics where supported services are used.
3. Authentication Data
Scrollie may let you continue as a guest or sign in using a supported provider such as Google or Apple, depending on platform availability.
When you authenticate, we may store a unique account identifier and basic account metadata necessary to keep your progress linked to you across sessions or devices. Guest use may still create an anonymous account identifier for continuity and sync support.
4. Learning, Progress, and Sync Data
To support continuity across app sessions and devices, we may store information such as your selected course, goals, enabled intervention types, lesson progress, streaks, XP, review memory state, and similar in-app progress data.
We may also store a limited blocked-app selection snapshot, such as identifiers and display labels needed to rebuild your selected app list across devices. We do not need to store every UI-only presentation field for that purpose.
5. Permissions and Device-Only Data
Some app features may ask for device permissions, such as accessibility or family-controls-related access, to power app gates or related features.
Device-specific permission state and certain temporary runtime state are intended to stay local on your device. We do not intentionally sync every device-only permission flag to the cloud.
Scrollie is designed so that app-blocking or intervention features can work without requiring us to collect the private contents of the apps you use as part of normal service operation.
6. Subscription and Purchase Information
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google through their respective stores. We do not directly receive your full payment card details.
We may store a normalized summary of your entitlement status, such as whether premium is active, the plan role associated with the purchase, whether the purchase is recurring or one-time, the store platform, product identifier, and related status metadata needed to unlock the correct app features and restore access where applicable.
7. How We Use Information
We may use information to:
- operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website and app,
- create and maintain accounts, guest sessions, and sync state,
- deliver learning content, interventions, and progress tracking,
- restore or reconcile premium access and purchases,
- respond to support requests and account inquiries,
- monitor reliability, troubleshoot issues, and prevent abuse or fraud,
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
8. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate the service, such as hosting, authentication, cloud storage, analytics, crash reporting, sign-in, and app-store billing infrastructure.
Depending on which features you use, those providers may include services such as Firebase, Google Sign-In, Apple Sign In, Apple App Store, Google Play, hosting providers, and other basic app infrastructure providers.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights or safety, to investigate fraud or abuse, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset transfer.
9. Cookies, Local Storage, and Similar Technologies
The website may use cookies, local storage, or similar browser technologies for continuity, site functionality, and to remember whether you have already completed certain website flows or onboarding-related interactions.
10. Retention and Security
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, maintain accounts and sync data, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information, but no system is perfectly secure and no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be fully secure.
11. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability regarding certain personal information.
You may also be able to manage sign-in methods, guest upgrade, subscriptions, and device permissions through the app, your device settings, or the applicable app store account settings.

12. Children's Privacy
Scrollie is not directed to children below the age required by applicable law to provide their own consent, unless use is appropriately supervised or authorized by a parent or guardian as required by law.
If you believe a child provided personal information in a way that was not permitted, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
13. International Processing
Depending on where you use the service and where our providers operate, information may be processed in countries other than your own. By using the service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different data protection rules.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we may revise the effective date, post the updated version on the website, or provide other notice where appropriate. Continued use of the service after the updated policy becomes effective means you accept the revised policy.
